Profiling the Heart

Matthew Grant, a behavioral analyst with the FBI, is used to traveling the country to catch the people terrorizing it, so going to a place like Cove Creek, Iowa, is nothing he hasn’t done before. He and his team figure this would be an easy-to-solve case. Everything seems pretty cut and dry. However, once on the ground, they learn the case is anything but. Stymied at every turn, Matthew grows frustrated. The only positive in this whole mess is the attractive woman who works the front desk at the small hotel where they’re staying.

Rebecca Clarke thought becoming a widow and a single mother, thus forcing her to move into her parents’ hotel, would be the worst thing that could happen to her. She was very wrong. Someone is killing the men in her town, men she grew up with and considers friends. The FBI is trying to catch them and are taking up residence in her family’s little bed-and-breakfast. It doesn’t hurt that one of the agents is very attractive, and very kind to her and her son, though. But it’s too soon to be ready to date, right?

As Matthew and Rebecca grow closer, unable to fight their mutual attraction, the serial killer escalates. As the murders move closer and closer to Rebecca’s inner circle, can Matthew and his team work fast enough to catch the person terrorizing her town?

Millie Driscoll and Trevor Ford have been best friends since they met at The Academy. Being able to join the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit together was a dream come true. When the BAU gets wind of a serial killer terrorizing Calico Rock, New Mexico, Millie thinks going to a new city will be just what she needs to kickstart her love life. After all, it worked for her friend Matthew when they went to Iowa. Trevor knows Millie considers him her best friend, which is why he would never jeopardize that relationship by revealing the more than friendly feelings he’s been harboring since they met.

While in Calico Rock, Millie meets Sebastian Sable, a sexy, mysterious man who she shares a mutual attraction to. Millie and Sebastian’s relationship develops from the possibility of a hot one night stand to something more serious as the search for the serial killer intensifies. With every new piece of evidence pointing to Millie being the next victim, and the killer always three steps ahead of them, the BAU begins to wonder if they will be able to catch him in time, and Trevor wonders if his tech skills will be enough to save his best friend from a stone cold killer, and the possibility of her heart being broken by a man he doesn’t quite trust.

After the events in Calico Rock, Millie Driscoll has taken a leave of absence from the BAU, going home to the small California coastal town of Sunset Harbor. Her best friend, Trevor Ford, is feeling lost without her. While he understands her need for space, she’s been gone so long, he’s worried she may not come back at all. However, right before Christmas, Trevor gets a phone call from Millie asking him to travel to California to spend the holiday with her and her family. Jumping at the chance to spend time with his best friend, Trevor doesn’t think twice about accepting her invitation, however, when he arrives, he realizes Millie wanted him there for more reasons than one.

Spending the last month in her hometown was exactly what Millie needed. She was recovering physically and mentally over what happened during their last case. However, when a spree killer begins killing people she’s known her entire life, she knows she can’t solve this case on her own. Bringing Trevor into her home comforts Millie in ways she didn’t expect. As they work together to catch the person hunting the people of Sunset Harbor, Millie begins to realize maybe her feelings may be evolving into a little bit more for her friend. But is she ready to open her heart to love again?

For the past year, Thomas Fleming, the director of the BAU, has been taunted by The Blooming Butcher. The serial killer has sent him texts and pictures nearly constantly, keeping him apprised of his movements, but always staying two steps ahead.

With the help of his team, Thomas has tried everything to solve the mystery of who he is before he takes the life of yet another innocent woman. However, when Thomas receives a message from the killer with a picture of his estranged wife, Thomas knows time is running out to catch the person tormenting him. He needs to try and get ahead of The Butcher, or he’ll end up losing his wife forever.

Carla Fleming still loved her husband, but this past year she grew tired of always coming in second to his job. She thought a separation would be the wake up call Thomas needed in order to reprioritize their relationship. However, when she starts receiving mysterious text messages and it always feels like someone is lurking in the shadows watching her, it’s Carla who reaches out to Thomas first.

As Thomas and his team work around the clock to find her stalker, Carla wonders if maybe she was being a bit hasty with ending their relationship.
